New £15M Care Home is opened by residents and Lord Mayor

The doors to a new £15m care facility on Liverpool Road in Formby have been officially opened by two of its first residents along with the Worshipful Mayor of Sefton, Councillor June Burns.

Known as Formby Manor, the expertly designed and purpose-built 76-bed care centre is already home to Eileen Bynoe and Jean Timmins who joined the Lord Mayor in cutting a red ribbon to perform the official opening and accompany her on a VIP tour of the new care facility.

Operated by New Care, Formby Manor will set new standards in Merseyside offering high quality, person-focussed care and an exceptional clinical offering that includes residential, nursing and specialist dementia care services.

Ensuring a home-from-home environment for residents, it boasts well-appointed private bedrooms with en suite wet rooms and a host of hotel-style services and communal areas including lounges, dining rooms and club rooms, a fine dining daily menu, hair salon, nail bar and concierge.  Residents also benefit from secure landscaped gardens and a busy and varied programme of events.

80-year-old, Jean Timmins, commented: “Since the day I moved in just over three weeks ago, I have enjoyed living here at Formby Manor.  I feel part of a warm and friendly new community and am looking forward to our family growing as new residents join us over the coming months.  It was a privilege to officially open our wonderful new home along with the Lord Mayor.”

Councillor June Burns commented: “Formby Manor is a stunning care facility.  It is evident that so much investment has gone into the development and the care home is superb, offering exceptional care services.  It was a pleasure to meet the team and take the first tour around to see the high quality of care, exceptional interior and fabulous quality of life that residents will have at Formby Manor.  I am very impressed.”

CEO at New Care, Chris McGoff, added: “We are thrilled that the Lord Mayor was able to take time out of her busy schedule to officially open Formby Manor for us.  We are incredibly proud of the care facility and were delighted to give her a preview tour.  The cutting of the red ribbon with some of our residents was a truly memorable way to mark the occasion.”

Formby Manor was financed by Puma Property Finance.  Investment director Tony Throp added: “We have a long record of working with experienced care home operators and are pleased to have continued our support of New Care by financing this latest development which will deliver high-quality care for residents of the Formby area.

New Care takes a leaf out of Willy Wonka’s ‘pure imagination’

New Care is proud of its long-standing partnership with Oomph, the UK’s leading wellbeing business for older adults.  Together we aim to enhance the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of all residents living in one of our stunning ‘new generation’ care facilities. Through the provision of innovative exercise, a variety of activities and engaging trips outs, we can positively encourage a full and active life for all, regardless of age and ability.

As part of this partnership, we host a monthly golden ticket draw at each of our care facilities, rewarding a member of the team for a ‘special staff and resident moment’.   From making a residents’ wish come true through organising a special activity to simply spending uninterrupted quality time with a resident listening to their stories, lots of special moments take place within the home, all of which are worthy of recognition.

This month, we decided to host a very special Willy Wonka-themed Golden Ticket sweepstake, with some superb prizes up for grabs for the lucky team member.  In Nottingham, Amy Simpson (wellbeing coordinator) at Ruddington Manor won an Apple Watch whilst Frankie Walsh (wellbeing assistant) at The Grand won £500 worth of gift vouchers.  In the North West, Malcolm Angus (care assistant) at Ashlands Manor in Sale won a 50” Smart TV, Ammaarah Issat (care assistant) at The Hamptons in Lytham St Annes won an Apple Watch and Steve Davies (maintenance manager) at Grosvenor Manor in Chester won £500 worth of gift vouchers.

New Care’s Chairman, Dominic Kay aka Willy Wonka, personally visited each home to pick at random the winners and present each of the lucky team members with their prizes.  Supporting Dominic were the care home managers, who either dressed up as an Oompa Loompa or enlisted the help of one of the staff.

It was a fantastically fun day with, in the words of Willy Wonka, ‘little surprises around every corner.’

Build commences on new £15m care facility in Formby

Build has commenced on a new, state-of-the-art £15 million care facility on Liverpool Road in Formby. Located on the site of the former Mayflower Industrial Estate, the 76 bed expertly designed, purpose-built care centre will create approximately 80 jobs.

It will be the seventh care facility for New Care, a rapidly growing development-led care home operator.  The 4,000sqm home will provide an exceptional clinical offering, including residential, nursing and specialist dementia care services.  Renowned for its compassionate, person-centred care, New Care’s individual approach is evident in its focus on ‘enablement’ which involves working with each resident individually to maintain their health and wellbeing and ensure they remain as independent as possible for as long as possible.

Catering for the aspiring needs of its residents in Formby and the surrounding areas, each of the well-appointed and restful bedrooms will feature en-suite wet rooms, while the home itself will offer several stylish communal lounges, elegant dining rooms, spa assisted bathrooms and beautifully landscaped gardens.  The impressive care facility will also boast a hair salon and nail bar. And, with its own dedicated hospitality team, the facility will provide high end hotel-style services that ensure continued quality of life and enjoyment for residents, including fine dining, concierge services and a busy and varied programme of activities and events.

CEO at New Care, Chris McGoff, comments: “We are delighted to have started work on site and are very much looking forward to introducing the New Care brand to Formby.  The plans for our latest care facility are superb; we will deliver a sophisticated, modern, purpose-built home which offers high quality care with first class hotel-style services.”

Part of the McGoff Group, New Care works with its build partner, the multi-award winning principal contractor McGoff Construction, also part of the McGoff Group, throughout the entire design and construction process.  Unique in its ability to acquire, design, build and operate, the McGoff Group provides a ‘one stop shop’ approach naturally de-risking the development process while adding value and enhancing growth.

Chris concludes: “It is a very exciting time for New Care with the company continuing to expand.  Having recently opened care homes in Sale (Greater Manchester) and Lytham St Annes, and a further home due to open in Chester in early 2018, we are thrilled to have added Formby to our ever growing portfolio.”

Demolition on site has now commenced and construction of the care home is expected to be complete in early 2019.
