With the concrete frame complete at phase one of Downtown, the McGoff Group celebrated this key milestone in the construction programme with a topping out event on the roof of the Woden Street development. https://vimeo.com/280381634/c5e15ee766 Joining the McGoff brothers James, Declan, Dave and Chris was the team from Wellesley, the development property finance specialist that has provided £39.9m funding to deliver Downtown. Combining a successful construction schedule, with the build expertly executed and managed by multi award-winning McGoff Construction, and impressive sales with all 368 apartments sold, the build of phase two at Downtown will now start much earlier than planned. Occupancy of phase one, which comprises 160 apartments, is planned for March 2019, and the early commencement of construction on phase two, which comprises 208 apartments, will start imminently. Chris McGoff, director at the McGoff Group, says: “The success of Downtown has been superb both in terms of sales and construction and it was fitting to invite the team from Wellesley to the topping out event on the roof, giving them the chance to see the impressive progress made on site. “Their continued support means we can start the build of phase two immediately, which means completion will be approximately nine or 10 months sooner than expected. With all apartments sold, the excellent design and prominent site of Downtown on the banks of the River Irwell have delivered a truly prestigious riverside residential development.” Graham Wellesley, Founder and CEO at Wellesley, adds: “Downtown is a high-quality, aspirational apartment scheme and the impressive pace of sales fully supports this. Working with the McGoff Group on this project has been a pleasure and it was a privilege to attend the topping out event. “Since 2007 property developers have found it increasingly hard to secure funding from banks and building societies. As a specialist alternative lender, we work hard to fill this gap, providing flexible lending packages that meet their needs. “We also seek out opportunities across the UK, not just in London or the Home Counties, and Downtown is a wonderful example; a development with excellent design that will transform the landscape and revolutionise the Manchester property market with its Manhattan-inspired hotel-style services and high end communal facilities.” ...

The McGoff Group has officially topped out at Back to the Garden, its exciting new day nursery on Sinderland Road in Broadheath, Altrincham. The first five children signed up to attend when the nursery officially opens next week (Monday 13 August) and their parents joined local Councillors Sean Anstee and Kate Burke, the new employee team, industry guests, development funders Puma and the McGoff brothers for a first look around the new setting and to celebrate gaining Ofsted registration. The event was hosted by Stewart and Jeannie Pickering, the husband and wife team and experienced childcare duo formerly behind the kidsunlimited brand who have partnered with the McGoff Group on Back to the Garden and been instrumental in the development of the new concept. Offering a new approach to childcare, Back to the Garden is a child-led, active learning environment with an emphasis on outdoor play in a garden setting away from the pollution associated with being too close to main roads.  The brand has a deliberate focus on 'organic and natural' which runs through its entire offering from the children's menu choices to the toys and toiletries that have been selected. Much of the children's daily activity will centre on the nursery's outdoor space which features all-weather sand and water play areas, outdoor play equipment, a herb and planting patch and a magnificent tepee which will be used for storytelling, circle time and daily mindfulness, meditation and yoga sessions. Stewart Pickering said: "After many months of development, planning and build, we are delighted that our fabulous new setting is ready to welcome its first intake and I could not be more proud of Jeannie and the staff team who have worked extremely hard to get everything ready.  Interest in Back to the Garden has been exceptional and we have been showing parents around and signing children up on a daily basis." ...

The McGoff Group has appointed two leading retail food and drink experts to help deliver the vision for its Market 41 project in Urmston. The company has enlisted the support of renowned Northern food commentator Thom Hetherington and national market experts WMC Retail Partners to help steer the development process for its new market food hall that will be created on Railway Road. London-based WMC is an experienced market operator.  The owner of two markets in Wellington and Morley, the company operates a number of other markets around the country and has expertise in working with developers on all aspects of market management, retail development and placemaking.   Originally appointed to undertake a feasibility study for the proposed market hall, including competitor benchmarking, cost and income analysis and operating model options, WMC has now been appointed to develop a full business plan for the project and coordinate all aspects of the development including lettings, layout and legal agreements. Sales and marketing manager at WMC, Esther Worboys, commented: "We are really excited to be working with the McGoff Group on this innovative new concept for Urmston and will draw on the experience of operating our own markets and implementing similar projects for others across the UK to deliver a fantastic new market hall that will further invigorate Urmston town centre and offer a great new leisure experience for locals." CEO of the Northern Restaurant and Bar exhibition, and consultant and commentator for the Northern food and drink scene, Thom Hetherington, will also form a key part of the team.  Close to developments in the restaurant and retail food and drink industry across the North of England, Thom has a wealth of knowledge, strong insight into consumer tastes and trends and great contacts that will help get the project off to good start. He commented: "Urmston is already a great place to live with bags of potential.  Combining well known high street names with an ever growing and popular blend of independents, it's a place that's definitely on the up and the perfect location for this new market hall which promises to provide an extra dynamic to the flourishing food and drink offering in the town.  I look forward to contributing to the concept and design of the building and blend of food and drink operators focusing on local artisan traders to create a real point of difference." Director at the McGoff Group, Chris McGoff, commented: "The overall concept, blend of operators and operating framework are essential to getting this project right and I'm confident that with WMC and Thom on board we can create a fantastic new asset for Urmston that becomes a key part of the town." Market 41 is the working title for the proposed new food hall that will be built on the site of Urmston's existing open air market on Railway Road.  Outline planning consent has already been granted for the development and work is due to begin on the market hall later this year with the aim of being open and trading in early 2019. Building on the increasing popularity of local markets, the market hall concept will feature a diverse blend of 10-12 food and drink operators positioned around an informal central seating area of around 160-180 covers.  All traders will be carefully selected to ensure customers benefit from the very best quality and choice at competitive price points.  The intention is to provide something different from the existing retail offer in Urmston and there will be a strong focus on independent and small manufacturers from across the region who work with locally sourced artisan quality food and drink....
